Cahill Welcomes Former New York City DOB Executive Director Robert D’Alessio

Cahill Strategies is pleased to welcome Robert D’Alessio, former New York City Department of Buildings Senior Executive Director of Construction Safety as the newest member of our team. For 26 years Mr. D’Alessio held various positions within the city’s construction regulatory arm. His experience in the industry is unmatched, having experienced many of the City’s developmental phases in modern-day construction. As our Construction Code and Safety Consultant, Bob brings an unparalleled level of knowledge and practical experience to our growing construction practice area.

12/6: NYC’s 2022 Chapter 33 Construction Code Revisions – BC 3304.7 – Access to Excavations

The existing code required at least one means of egress from general open-cut excavations. The revision incorporates the OSHA requirement for multiple means of ingress/egress for trenches (trench definition: 4 feet or greater in depth and 15 feet or less in width) greater than 25 feet in length.

11/29: NYC’s 2022 Chapter 33 Construction Code Revisions – BC 3304.4.1 Support of Excavation Construction Documents

The existing code allowed any registered design professional to prepare support of excavation drawings. The revised code allows only a registered professional engineer to prepare support of excavation drawings where the excavation will be carried to depth greater than 20 feet.
