On Thursday, the New York City Council passed Intro 1236-2016 requiring the health department to report on autism diagnoses and Intro 1424-2017 which amends city code in relation to disability classification reporting from the department of education.
Intro 1236 will require the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to collect data on the incidence of autism spectrum disorder diagnoses in New York City, by community district, and to post this data on its website.
Intro 1424 will require the Department of Education to include data on the number of students with autism in the annual demographics report that is submitted to the Council and posted online.
