NYC Department of Buildings COVID-19 Update Friday Evening 3/20

Department of Buildings has released more information concerning how the industry will be progressing forward during this uncharted time. Please see attached service bulletins and best practices. Furthermore, they are continuing to reduce in-person interactions between industry professionals and Department personnel in response to the COVID-19 Virus. Beginning Tuesday, March 24, 2020, there will be no in-person appointments with plan examiners.

As a reminder, the Governor’s Executive Order 202.6 requires that non-essential professions and companies have 100% of their staff work remotely. As mentioned in the order the following industries are deemed essential and this order does not apply. Again please see the list below and this is the list that is currently not affected by this order.

The executive order exempts essential service industries, including construction, shipping, media, warehousing, grocery and food production, pharmacies, healthcare providers, utilities, banks and related financial institutions, and other industries critical to the supply chain.
