Construction Case Study: Con Ed Bill Dispute
Challenge:
Our client completed construction on a building with two retail spaces during the Covid pandemic. In 2023, ConEd sent a bill for estimated electrical consumption from 2017 to 2021, claiming significant unmetered electricity usage despite the spaces being mostly vacant due to the pandemic. The total bill amounted to over $350,000.
Solution:
We compiled a timeline supported by documentation and evidence, then drafted a dispute letter on behalf of our client and submitted it to a contact at ConEd’s Customer Service.
Result:
A few months later, ConEd responded, reducing the total amount due by nearly $140,000 based on the dispute submitted by Cahill.
