Children line up for exclusive wrist bands

In an outstanding turnout of families and friends, the Nassau-Suffolk Chapter of the Autism Society of America had their very own night of fun, rides, and games at Adventureland of Farmingdale. Children with autism often have challenges enjoying places like Adventureland due to the loud crowds and long lines. Last night, the participation of the amusement park personnel demonstrated the park’s commitment to the community – one that rarely gets to enjoy such loud places. For a few hours, these families experienced what most take for granted.

Parents spoke of the wonderful impact that the NSASA has on their children. Whether its opportunities such as going to an amusement park or a picnic outing or a night at the movies, NSASA provides families whose children fall under the spectrum with a chance to do things that are often impossible.

Many of the participants have been with NSASA for almost a decade, continuing their support for the organization that they say has changed their lives. NSASA’s membership is always growing as they plan more events to enhance services to their members. Suzanne Reek, Executive Director of the Nassau-Suffolk Chapter, has led the charge to ensure quality programming for all the children and parents she supports. With beautiful weather, joy, and laughter, the NSASA truly outdid itself at Adventureland.
